Celebrating, advancing and guiding tourism’s return

UNWTO centered tourism as a key pillar of sustainable development at the 5th United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries. The conference, held in Doha around the theme of “From Potential to Prosperity” came at the pivotal half-way point in the timeline to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and fully implement the 2030 agenda. With the sector accounting for 7% of total exports, and as much as 10% for non-oil exporting LDCs, tourism has proven its power to drive development. The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) has announced JetBlues additional service

The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) has announced that JetBlue is adding additional service to the destination in time for its biggest cultural festival, Spicemas. From 7 August to 1 September 2023, the carrier will operate a second daily nonstop flight, a 162-seat A320, leaving New York’s John F Kennedy (JFK) airport at 9:50 pm and arriving at Grenada’s Maurice Bishop International Airport (GND) at 2:47 am. The returning flight departs GND at 5:01 am and arrives at JFK at 9:57 am. JetBlue currently offers daily nonstop service from New York, and American Airlines offers a daily nonstop flight from Miami, along with a seasonal weekly flight from Charlotte on Saturdays. Bartlett Calls On IFIs To Drive Tourism Recovery And Growth

In a critical analysis of tourism and its importance to global economies, the Minister made a universal call on international financial institutions (IFIs) to invest in ideas to build industry capacity for full recovery and inclusive growth. Jamaica Tourism Minister Bartlett was one of four notable climate finance panelists at the 2023 Global Inclusive Growth Summit in Washington D.C. yesterday (April 13). Puerto Plata, in full swing in cruises attracts 40 ships this month

Puerto Plata’s appeal to cruise passengers remains unyielding as it continues to bolster its economy through the dynamic generated by this sector. British Airways launches guide to help flyers with autism

  British Airways has partnered with Learning Rose, an organisation that develops support material for people with autism, in a move marking World Autism Acceptance Week to launch a Visual Guide to make travel easier for customers with autism. The Visual Guide is endorsed by the National Autistic Society and is designed to help customers prepare for their trip and make them feel as comfortable as possible during their journey. Challenges ahead for Caribbean tourism, CHTA survey says

Caribbean tourism has excelled at rebounding post-pandemic, but there are other factors at play that could slow the tourism sector this year. "We see great, great strides for Caribbean tourism, but we are facing some challenges," said Nicola Madden-Greig, president of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, after the CHTA released findings from its member survey last week. Barbados nonstop to St. Kitts now in the skies

This partnership is a strategic step towards making regional travel more accessible to the island and further connecting Barbados to the wider Caribbean. Service to Barbados commences on Sunday, March 12, 2023. The Barbados (BGI) to St. Kitts (SKB) flight will fly 3 times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with a capacity for 30 travelers.
