This figure surpasses the 96,000 passengers recorded in June 2024, marking a significant milestone for the country’s aviation sector. According to information obtained by Infotur Dominicano from the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), based on data provided by the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), Arajet emerged as the leading Dominican airline, accounting for 79% of total passenger traffic. Arajet recorded its highest number of passengers transported in a single month since it began operations, with a total of 90,433 passengers, up from 76,000 in June 2024. Sandals will convert Emerald Bay to a Beaches resort Sandals Resorts International is bringing its Beaches family brand to the Bahamas, announcing plans to transform the Sandals Emerald Bay into the Beaches Exuma. The oceanfront Sandals Emerald Bay will close on Aug. 15, and renovations are expected to begin this fall. Sandals did not say when the resort will reopen as a Beaches. According to Sandals, guests with affected reservations at the Sandals Emerald Bay are in the process of being contacted. Impacted guests are being provided with options to rebook at another Sandals resort and will get "special benefits."
