The day has arrived, Havanatur is celebrating its 45 years!
Havanatur S.A., the only 100% Cuban tour operator, is celebrating 45 years of its foundation with new goals. “To expand offers specially designed to promote multi-destination in the Caribbean region and alliances with airlines and travel agencies,” said its general director Yoelkis Salazar Rivery on the night of the celebration.
“In all these years we have consolidated ourselves as leaders and that it be recognized as the ‘Cuban specialist’ through its network of tour operators and representative agencies, providing a specialized assistance service with the aim of maintaining the acceptance of each client and the sustained growth of tourism emissions,” the executive said in the presence of collaborators, representatives of other tourism entities and the specialized press.
In a year of challenges for Havanatur, which has sought to recover participation quotas at the group level regarding visitor arrivals to the destination ― which represented more than 24% of the total tourists to the island until 2019 ― and surpass the figures of 2022, launched its new campaign “Dare to Live it-Cuba awaits you.” It is the first time that the company has achieved a solid, group communication strategy focused on digital platforms and mobile devices channeled on the impact of the message on different generational groups.
In addition, Havanatur has strived to create a renewed portfolio of products, “whose guarantee of diversity and quality ensures the satisfaction of the customer who travels to Cuba,” highlighted Salazar Rivery.
The tour operator was born in 1978 with the objective of promoting the Cuba destination from abroad, creating different agencies with their own autonomy under its umbrella brand and expanding the marketing of tourism as a basic line for the country’s economy. This policy made it necessary to create companies in Cuban territory to guarantee all ground operations from abroad.
This duality has made Havanatur a recognized and promoted brand in its capacity as an operator and travel agency in the market, unlike other companies dedicated to tourism in Cuba.
Through alliances with airlines, as a member of IATA, its services include ticket sales and reservation confirmation from an airline department.
As has emerged in exchanges with the press, the Group seeks to enter markets such as Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, with special interest in the Dominican Republic, in favor of promoting multi-destination programs using air connections and the range of cultural products that the island’s eastern region treasures.
Havanatur is also working to attract new events as it has a structure associated with this modality. Among its options, the Universidad international conference and Habanos stand out, as well as others of a specialized sports or cultural nature.
Among its staff of more than 700 professionals on the island, its executives are committed to “training new generations on the values of the organization and transmitting the experience and professionalism that has distinguished Havanatur during these first 45 years,” its general director said.
At the Habana Café Cabaret of the Meliá Cohiba Hotel, venue of the celebration, the support of the collaborators of the International Group of Tour Operators and Travel Agencies during these 45 years was recognized. The group Buena Fé, in charge of the musical theme of the communication campaign, and Willy Campa, accompanied the night.
