Peru has been chosen as the best river cruise destination in the world during the first edition of the World Cruise Awards. The Andean country has also been recognized as the best destination for river cruises at the regional level, that is, in Latin America, according to Tourinews.

These are recently created awards, whose objective is to recognize, reward and celebrate excellence in the cruise sector worldwide, as explained by the organization itself.

The awards are given based on the votes of industry professionals, as well as the media and consumers.

The Peruvian tourism authorities highlight the importance of the cruise industry as an opportunity for the development of sustainable practices around natural resources and emblematic landscapes, such as the Amazon River. Peru will continue working to improve river tourism services.
