TTMA hopes ferry brings easy regional travel Photo: Pixabay/LuisFerreira4x4 THE TT Manufacturers Association (TTMA) on Friday keenly welcomed the proposal of a regional ferry – as a boost to people's lives and countries' economies – with TTMA president Roger Roach urging legislation where needed to allow the free movement of goods, people and capital. A TTMA statement quoted Roach as saying, "This is an excellent start to boundless possibilities for the peoples of the region.” The Prime Minister recently announced a proposal for the Galleons Passage ferry to serve a route linking Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Barbados, with details to come. Boeing to increase quality inspections on 737-Max following Alaska Airlines blow out

Boeing to increase quality inspections on 737-Max following Alaska Airlines blow out Boeing told employees Monday that it plans to increase quality inspections of its 737 Max 9 aircraft, following the failure of an emergency exit door panel on an Alaska Airlines flight last week. It is the latest in a series of troubles for Boeing, whose reputation as the premier American aircraft manufacturer has been tarnished by a series of manufacturing flaws that have led some airlines to hold off aircraft purchases or go with its European rival, Airbus. The inspections come after Federal regulators grounded the 737 Max, and that Boeing has said that after the Alaska Airlines flight and customer complaints, it is "clear that we are not where we need to be" on quality assurance and controls. "Our team is also taking a hard look at our quality practices in our factories and across our production system," [...]

TTC Special: Cruise tourism’s private islands Cruise tourism’s private islands. Photo: Pixabay/chengtzf By: José Luis Perelló Cabrera The Caribbean Sea and its islands have become a main cruise area since the late 20th century. Its geographical structure allows short-distance navigation and visits to just over two dozen small island states and ports in its basin ― with a diversity of customs, languages and colonial roots ―, a veritable mosaic of cultures and nationalities. Together with these tourist attractions, the region is presented as a safe destination, free of terrorism and war conflicts. The proximity of the Caribbean to the United States and its temperate climate have been important factors in the growth of this industry in the region. By 2024, the Caribbean becomes the world’s most important cruise destination, with 45 percent global market share. Over the next five years, the incorporation of 72 new ships is expected, which [...]
