Flair Airlines obtains license to operate regular flights to Cuba

By: Rachell Cowan Canino

Canadian airline Flair Airlines received the necessary international authorizations to operate flights to Cuba, as confirmed by the Canadian Transportation Agency, which approved the license application submitted by the company.

This news comes at a complex time for air connectivity between Canada and the island. Currently, Air Canada has suspended its operations to Cuba until November 1st. In contrast, Sunwing Vacations, WestJet Québec, and Air Transat have so far announced their intention to resume vacation operations to Cuba starting June 20.

It is worth recalling that in early February, Canadian airlines repatriated thousands of tourists from Cuba amidst the oil blockade and announcements by Cuban authorities regarding jet fuel shortages.

In terms of tourism offerings, Sunwing and the Krystal Hotels & Resorts chain continue to promote luxury getaways with exclusive services and elegant facilities in Cuban destinations.
