CONVIASA inaugurates direct air connection between Saint Petersburg and Varadero

On November 3, the Juan Gualberto Gómez Ferrer International Airport in Varadero received the first direct flight from St. Petersburg operated by the Venezuelan airline CONVIASA, marking a milestone in air connectivity between Russia and Cuba.
The arrival of the inaugural flight was welcomed with Cuban music and the warm hospitality characteristic of the destination, creating a festive atmosphere for the first passengers using this new route. This air connection represents a strategic advancement in strengthening tourism ties between the two countries and facilitates direct access from one of Russia’s main cities to one of the Caribbean’s most emblematic tourist hubs.

The new route consolidates Russia as one of the most important source markets for Cuban tourism and reflects Cuba’s commitment to diversifying its markets. Varadero, with its more than 20 kilometers of white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters, consolidates as the preferred destination for Russian tourists, who also show growing interest in exploring other attractions of the Cuban archipelago.
