Tourism Ministry postpones launch of “Ritmo de la Costa”

The Ministry of Tourism has rescheduled the launch of its new cultural and tourism initiative, “Ritmo de la Costa,” to August 9, with events continuing through November 29 in multiple provinces nationwide.

Designed to boost local tourism, the platform will offer communities vibrant cultural and artistic experiences while promoting merengue, recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Events will be held monthly, on the last Saturday of each month, to encourage social cohesion and showcase the value of public spaces.

The program will debut with a performance by merengue icon Toño Rosario on the Santo Domingo Este boardwalk. Additional events are planned for key destinations such as La Romana, Samaná, San Cristóbal, and María Trinidad Sánchez, among others. Upcoming venues include the Caleta boardwalk in La Romana and the new boardwalk in Samaná, where Ritmo de la Costa will continue promoting Dominican music, culture, and tourism.
