“Motivos Cubanacan”: An opportunity to explore eastern Cuba

A collaboration by Rachell Cowan Canino

The Cubanacan Hotel Group will hold the second edition of its “Motivos Cubanacan” event from November 17 to 23, 2025, dedicated to discovering and promoting the tourist attractions of eastern Cuba.

An initial announcement about the event was made by the company’s Vice President, Yaima Suárez, during the evening celebrating the hotel chain’s 38th anniversary. She emphasized that this initiative will allow participants to “rediscover together a region rich in culture, history, music and nature, to strengthen our offers in a competitive market.”

The program will include a tour of three key provinces: Santiago de Cuba, Holguín and Camagüey. Activities will begin on November 17 with a VIP reception at Havana’s José Martí International Airport and a welcome dinner. The following day, participants will travel to Santiago de Cuba to visit the group’s facilities in the city, including its iconic landmark, and will visit the Sanctuary of the Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre, patron saint of Cuba. As a highlight, they will enjoy a reenactment of the Fiesta del Caribe, a cultural event highlighting the region’s Afro-Caribbean traditions.

On November 19, the delegation will travel to Holguín, but before that, they will be able to visit the Segundo Frente Hotel and continue exploring the colonial charm of Gibara, known as the “White Town” for its architecture and coastal landscapes. On the 20th, a catamaran tour of Gibara Bay and an excursion to Guardalavaca Beach, famous for its white sands and crystal-clear waters, are planned.

The final stop will be Camagüey, where the potential of nautical tourism will be highlighted. The closing ceremony will take place in this heritage city, known for its labyrinthine colonial streets and plazas. During the event, participants—including tour operators, travel agencies, and specialized press—will be able to experience firsthand the diversity of the eastern Cuban tourism scene, from beaches and nature to history and living culture.

“Motivos Cubanacan” thus consolidates its position as a key platform for positioning eastern Cuba as a multifaceted destination, leveraging Cubanacan’s infrastructure in the region and its partnership with international operators. With this initiative, the group reiterates its commitment to the balanced development of tourism in Cuba, taking travelers beyond traditional destinations to discover the authentic essence of the island.
