Hotel Nacional de Cuba destacado en los World Luxury Awards 2025

At a gala held in Madrid, the iconic National Hotel of Cuba was honored with two of the most prestigious awards in the industry: the World Luxury Hotel Award and the World Luxury Restaurant Award. The director of the institution, Luis Miguel Díaz Sánchez, received the accolades that celebrate excellence in high-level hospitality and gastronomy.

Since its creation in 2006, the World Luxury Awards have honored the best in the global luxury tourism sector. More than 300,000 international travelers participate in the voting each year, making these awards a benchmark for the most demanding expectations in the luxury world. Being selected is, without a doubt, the ultimate recognition of quality, service, and experience.

About to celebrate its 95th anniversary this December 30, the Hotel Nacional stands with its impressive eclectic architecture facing the Havana Malecón. More than just accommodation, it is a living monument to Cuban history, culture, and identity. Declared a National Monument and distinguished by UNESCO as a Memory of the World, the hotel has witnessed nearly a century of events that shaped Cuba and the world.

In its gardens, two cannons from the old Santa Clara Battery still rest, remnants of Havana’s colonial defensive system, now part of UNESCO World Heritage. This historic corner connects the present with the deepest roots of the city.

Since the 1930s, the Hotel Nacional has been a refuge for luminaries: Gary Cooper, Winston Churchill, María Félix, Frank Sinatra, Walt Disney, Yuri Gagarin, Gabriel García Márquez, Sartre, Fidel Castro, and Che Guevara, among many others. Each decade has left its mark on its halls, making it a privileged setting for memorable gatherings.

Since 1979, every December the hotel transforms into the venue of the International Latin American Film Festival and hosts figures such as Robert De Niro, Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, and Geraldine Chaplin.

Its Hall of Fame also preserves photographs and objects of more than a hundred heads of state who have been distinguished guests.

With 426 rooms, many with sea views, the hotel also offers an Executive Floor for businesspeople and select travelers.

Among its spaces stands out the famous Cabaret Parisien, second in prestige only after the Tropicana.

Throughout its history, the Hotel Nacional has accumulated multiple recognitions that establish it as an icon of luxury tourism in Cuba. Today, with these new international awards, it reaffirms its place on the world map of hotel excellence.
