Havana’s Hotel Deauville debuts newly remodeled 14th floor

Since 1957, the Hotel Deauville has been standing right where Galiano Street and Havana’s Malecón meet. On its top floor, the fourteenth, the Gran Caribe Hotel Group now boasts a gem in the middle of the city.

After an investment process that converted spaces and decorated them with new furnishings, guests will find six renovated rooms and can also enjoy personalized attention, free Wi-Fi for four hours a day, concierge service, an exclusive breakfast area, and a minibar.

Representatives from travel agencies, tour operators, and the press toured this floor on August 1st, where a breakfast area they have dubbed “Bar 14” has also opened. Behind the glass, Havana unfolds from El Morro to the Malecón that borders Vedado, and the sea seems to want to enter through the windows.

Starting a day or watching the sunlight fade from this floor is an experience worth considering during any traveler’s stay in the capital.

Gran Caribe’s Commercial Vice President, Yosjady Ferrer García, announced that this “Superior Room” type will be offered at a special discounted price this August and that other interested agencies will be able to conduct hotel inspections to explore its attractions. “The Deauville’s occupancy levels are better in 2025 than last year. It will continue to be an affordable hotel with a superior quality standard,” he stated.

The manager of the Hotel Deauville, Yosy Fuentes Hernández, also commented on the dance classes taught here, which guests “love.” “They’re cultural projects we promote at the hotel. Guests staying at other hotels come in full groups to our terrace. The classes are two hours long, the first for theory and the second for exchanges. The teachers are vetted for these classes and teach salsa, bachata, and kizomba. We also include some folkloric music, including drums, which people have requested. The first session runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and a second session runs from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Additionally, they can join the salsa party up at the pool that same night. People constantly ask online and by phone to find out when the salsa day is.”

Other cultural options are offered in the pool area, also recently remodeled, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Of the 141 rooms in the three-star hotel, 95 have ocean views. Another nine, on the 13th floor, are also marketed as “superior rooms.”

In recent years, other areas of the Deauville have benefited from an investment process to renew their comfort and image. “Every month there’s something different to present, something different to see, with very good customer acceptance,” emphasized the hotel’s director. “Even in the low season, we have very good indicators.” According to Olivia Hernández, the hotel’s sales representative, they register a repeat visit rate of between 15 and 20%.
