Dominican Republic shines at FIT 2025
The Dominican Republic is participating in the International Tourism Fair (FIT) 2025 in Argentina, highlighting the country as a top source market. In the first half of 2025, arrivals from Argentina grew 89.5% compared to 2024, making Argentina the Caribbean nation’s third-largest tourist market. Over 450,000 Argentine visitors are expected this year, boosting employment, taxes, and economic benefits, with airline seat growth already indicating continued expansion in 2026.
During FIT, the Dominican delegation held over 40 meetings with strategic partners, travel agencies, and airlines, including Julia Tours, Copa Airlines, and Tower Travel. Julia Tours recognized the Dominican Republic for its successful promotion and strengthening of tourism and cultural ties. MITUR emphasized the fair as a key opportunity to reinforce partnerships and maintain Argentine travelers’ loyalty.
Argentine tourists visiting the Dominican Republic mostly travel with family (34%) or as couples (26%), stay an average of 9 days, and prefer Bávaro–Punta Cana (72%) and La Romana–Bayahíbe (21%). Most travelers book through travel agencies (82%) and stay in resorts (96%), while excursions, particularly to Saona Island (53%), remain highly popular. Satisfaction is extremely high, with 95.6% willing to return.
The Dominican delegation featured major hotels, airlines, and tour operators, including Arajet, Princess Hotels, Majestic Resorts, RIU Hotels, Barceló Bávaro Grand Resort, CocoBongo, and Colonial Tours, showcasing the nation’s cultural, natural, and entertainment offerings to strengthen ties with the Argentine market.
