As part of Cuba’s active participation in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2026, the company Cubasol officially presented its calendar of specialized events for this year.
The portfolio, designed for specific traveler segments, seeks to diversify the island’s tourism offers and attract those interested in golf, fishing, gastronomy, underwater photography, and rum and cigar culture, as highlighted by company President Liubersy Pérez Guillén.
Cubasol’s strategy focuses on creating “small-scale events” that allow visitors to experience a more authentic and specialized Cuba. “I believe it’s a different way to get to know Cuba… for a more specialized segment, but one that provides all the pleasure and satisfaction the client desires,” explained Pérez Guillén during the presentation, emphasizing that these events showcase the destination’s unique attributes.
The 2026 calendar includes a remarkable series of events. The agenda kicks off from May 25 to 30 with one of the world’s oldest fishing tournaments, the Hemingway International Billfishing Tournament, held at the Hemingway Marina in Havana, using a catch-and-release format. From September 9 to 12, the 16th edition of the Varadero Gourmet International Festival will take place, combining culinary competitions, conferences, and entertainment at the country’s premier beach resort.
October features several specialized events: from the 5th to the 9th, an event dedicated to the Asian market at La Casa del Habano in the Hotel Habana Libre; from the 20th to the 22nd, the “Experiences and Traditions” event at Jardines del Rey; and from the 21st to the 24th, the Cuba Golf Cup at the Varadero golf course, with professional women’s and men’s categories. November continues with the Big Game Trolling Tournament at Jardines del Rey from the 5th to the 10th, a sport fishing tournament; the Photosub Event from the 9th to the 13th for underwater photography enthusiasts; and finally, the emblematic Friends of Habano Meeting from the 16th to the 20th, which has been held for over 40 years, bringing together aficionados of premium Cuban cigars.
Pérez Guillén emphasized the direct relationship between these events and the promotion of the destination. “They are directly linked… because the events characterize the Cuban product.” She emphasized that activities dedicated to rum and tobacco highlight iconic products, while nautical and underwater events showcase the island’s natural attractions for more specialized tourism. The presentation concluded with an invitation to tour operators and the press to access all the detailed information and prices via a QR code. In this way, Cubasol consolidates its role as a driving force behind experiential tourism in Cuba.
