Camagüey between lights and shadows

Multiple places and churches are discovered from an aerial view of the city of Camagüey. Taking a peek through the windows, colonial domestic architecture is is seen: high ceilings, arches chiseled with voluptuousness, wide spaces and interior patios where the typical earthenware jars went from fulfilling their original function to store water to another ornamental.

Through its streets and labyrinthic alleys visitors can make an imaginary trip to the past. The people of Camagüey are proud of their history linked to the attacks of corsairs and pirates, economic prosperity, the nobility of their heroes and the culture and knowledge of their most notable children. That amalgam is drawn on the facades that contrast in styles and colors.

The once Township of Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe deserves a few days of stay to tour and rebuild its existence over almost 510 years. The Cubanacán chain has recovered seven buildings in the city to turn them into accommodation of the E brand, a sign of excellence, charm and elegance. On February 2, the Agramontinos ― alluding to the bravest and most illustrious of their children ― will celebrate its foundational anniversary and will be another good opportunity to live and tell their history.

As night falls and a new day begins, these are the images trapped in an instant of time that wanted to be more.
