Havana’s Hotel Deauville debuts newly remodeled 14th floor

Havana's Hotel Deauville debuts newly remodeled 14th floor By Daily Pérez Guillén Since 1957, the Hotel Deauville has been standing right where Galiano Street and Havana's Malecón meet. On its top floor, the fourteenth, the Gran Caribe Hotel Group now boasts a gem in the middle of the city. After an investment process that converted spaces and decorated them with new furnishings, guests will find six renovated rooms and can also enjoy personalized attention, free Wi-Fi for four hours a day, concierge service, an exclusive breakfast area, and a minibar. Representatives from travel agencies, tour operators, and the press toured this floor on August 1st, where a breakfast area they have dubbed "Bar 14" has also opened. Behind the glass, Havana unfolds from El Morro to the Malecón that borders Vedado, and the sea seems to want to enter through the windows. Starting a day or watching the sunlight fade from [...]

Guanahacabibes: Biodiverse, exuberant and unique

Guanahacabibes: Biodiverse, exuberant and unique Guanacabibes. Photo: Panchito González López The Guanahacabibes Peninsula is lies on the westernmost tip of Cuba, a region distinguished from the rest of the country considered one of the areas with the greatest biodiversity in both terrestrial and marine areas, and an exceptional location for ecotourism. About 130 kilometers from the city of Pinar del Río, those making the long journey are rewarded when they arrive, on contemplating the excellent degree of natural conservation, precisely due to the isolation of human communities and the fact that its population is only about 1,300 inhabitants spread across four locations. But the best way to enjoy a visit is with one of the experts from Guanahacabibes National Park. In our case, it was Mario Borrego, head of the Public Use and Environmental Education program. He briefly described the site as “a true natural treasure.” This is where [...]

Mexico’s Tourism Secretary discusses new administration Photo: Sefotur. Surging arrival numbers. New airports and rail service. Increased connectivity. Mexico’s tourism sector is in growth mode, as the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum ramps up efforts to make Mexico the world’s fifth most-visited country by 2030. Josefina Rodriguez Zamora, who was appointed Mexico’s secretary of tourism in October 2024 as part of the new Sheinbaum administration, spoke with TravelPulse about what’s new on Mexico’s tourism scene — and what the future might bring. To what do you attribute Mexico’s impressive growth in international arrivals? The sustained growth we’ve seen from the U.S. and Canada is due to a combination of strategic factors. First, air connectivity has improved. In the first five months of 2025, more than 7.8 million tourists from these two markets arrived in Mexico — a 6.1 percent increase over the previous year. The U.S. remains our main source market, with six million [...]
