Arajet showcases Dominican culture with new onboard music experience

Dominican airline Arajet is reinforcing its cultural identity by introducing original Dominican music onboard its flights. Beginning this month, passengers will be welcomed and bid farewell with specially composed merengue and bachata pieces, aiming to bring the spirit and joy of the Dominican Republic to every journey.

The initiative features four exclusive compositions—two merengues and two bachatas—each presented in two versions: a lively, upbeat style and a slower “apambichada” version. The music was created by a talented team of 15 nationally and internationally acclaimed musicians, under the direction of Federico Méndez, a seasoned guitarist and music educator affiliated with Berklee College of Music and Hamburg’s Hochschule für Musik und Theater.

Contributors include artists who have performed with Dominican icon Juan Luis Guerra and 440, such as Juan de la Cruz “Chocolate”, Janina Rosado, and others. The project also features international collaborations, including violin recorded by José Francisco Pérez in Germany—fresh off Adele’s 2024 tour—and flutes by German musician Fiete Felsch.
