Blue Diamond Resorts adjusts hotel availability in Cuba

Cuba continues to be an iconic destination that captivates travelers from around the world with its dreamlike beaches, rich culture and warm hospitality.

This was reaffirmed in an official statement by Rafael Villanueva, Commercial Director of Blue Diamond Resorts, who pointed out that the current national situation on the island, marked by a fuel crisis exacerbated by the US economic blockade, has led the Blue Diamond Resorts hotel chain to implement an operational reorganization in the country.

Currently, the chain has a total of 58 hotels in Cuba, some of which have had to close temporarily to adapt to the country’s circumstances.

“Blue Diamond Resorts’ priority has been to maintain the quality of service in the establishments that remain operational,” the statement emphasizes.

Among the hotels that have closed temporarily are those located in key destinations such as Cayo Santa María, Holguín and Cayo Largo del Sur. In Cayo Santa María, Resonance Santa María closed its doors on February 7, relocating guests to Sanctuary Santa María, thus ensuring the continuity of their stays and the quality of service.

Similarly, the statement details that starting on the same date, Resonance Marea in Holguín redirected its visitors to Starfish Guardalavaca.

Furthermore, Resonance Santa Lucía will cease operations on February 18, transferring guests to Sanctuary Santa Lucía or, in case of limited availability, to other options within the same tourist area. Memories Paraíso also reduced its capacity, relocating its guests to Grand Memories Santa María starting February 7, ensuring an equivalent experience in nearby facilities. Likewise, Villa Marina and Villa Natura guests will be relocated within Cayo Largo del Sur to Sanctuary or Memories Cayo Largo, depending on availability.

The official statement clarifies that, “despite these temporary closures, the facilities that remain open continue operating with all necessary backup systems.”

“They have their own electric generators powered by a secure fuel supply, thus guaranteeing continuity of service; and they maintain a constant supply of food, beverages and essential supplies, including sanitary and hygiene materials, to offer a safe and high-quality experience to their guests,” it reads.

It also emphasizes that the chain reaffirms its commitment to excellence and adaptability in the face of current circumstances, always striving to provide a memorable experience in Cuba.

“The resilience of the Cuban tourism sector and the dedication of its workers allow the magic of this destination to remain alive, despite the adversities, and the Caribbean nation remains open to the world, inviting travelers and business partners to discover its unique beauty, supporting the recovery of tourism on the island,” the text concludes.
