The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader Corona today announced the Responsible Tourism Recovery Plan for COVID-19, the purpose of which is to anticipate, address and overcome the new challenges facing the tourism sector.

As tourism slowly restarts in an increasing number of countries, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has released new data measuring the impact of COVID-19 on the sector.
Until the health crisis erupted, our industry was responsible for 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The challenge today is to start operating again, seeking to reduce that number as much as possible.
The executive vice president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores), Andrés Marranzini, revealed that as of July 1, 30% of the rooms in hotels will be reactivated to receive tourists and also depending on demand will will activate the re-entry of staff.
