Tourism Congress ended in Cuba

The thirty-ninth Congress of the Federation of Congress Organizing Entities of Latin America (COCAL) took place in Varadero, a Cuban tourist beach in order to fulfilling an intense agenda, focused on the projections and sustainability of the meetings industry.

Representatives from 19 countries in the region attended the event held at the Hotel Meliá Internacional in Varadero with the aim of promoting knowledge and collaboration in the sector through master lectures and discussion panels related to social responsibility, management risk and collaboration.

Since Tuesday, the IMEX COCAL Future Leaders Forum pre-congress session took place at the Plaza América Convention Center, an opportunity for joint debate between exponents of the meeting industry with young Cuban students and students from other Latin American nations about development prospects.

On Wednesday, speaking at the inaugural session, Juan Carlos García Granda, Minister of Tourism, said that Cuba has a wide hotel infrastructure with the necessary facilities and technologies for the successful holding of fairs, meetings, congresses and exhibitions.

He highlighted the importance of promoting Congress, Conventions and Incentives (MICE) tourism in the nation and the country’s strengths by having professionals specialized in organizing events, in addition to having other support structures such as incoming travel agencies.
