MARLIN Marinas and Nautical Company: The experience of the Cuban sea
By Daily Pérez Guillén
Just two days to go until the 72nd edition of the Ernest Hemingway International Billfishing Tournament, Empresa Marinas y Náuticas Marlin S.A., the company in charge of organizing the event, celebrates its 19th anniversary. Through its profiles on social networks, Marlin recalled that it was founded on May 25, 2005.
The company belonging to the Cubasol Business Group has five marinas authorized for international traffic, eleven national marinas or nautical bases and two support branches spread throughout the Cuban archipelago.
On the occasion of the recently concluded International Tourism Fair (FITCUBA 2024), which took place in one of the most important sun and beach resorts in the country, home to Marlin’s Jardines del Rey Branch, the company renewed much of its products and nautical equipment.
“Our branch is at its best as we have upgraded several pieces of equipment. In the case of our boat adventure offer, we replaced all the boats with new ones. The client is 100% protagonist of this activity because he or she drives their own boat,” Arley Rodríguez Suárez, commercial director of the marina told TTC.
Meanwhile, Daybelis Pérez Sandrino, commercial director, and Patricia Díaz Ferras, director of Business and Development at the top level, also presented the advantages of the website www.marinasmarlin.com at FITCUBA 2024, from which it is possible to arrange a tourist package according to each client’s needs.
Through this digital platform, users have at their fingertips all Marlin’s options in the country’s top destinations. These include sport fishing, diving, sea kayaking, kitesurfing, life on board, boat adventure, among other products. Under the “Experiences” category, internet users can find opportunities for exclusive yacht rides, night diving, seafaris or the enjoyment of sunsets with a yacht tour and dinner off the coast.
The site also has its own GDS that can be integrated with other sites, through which users can access international payment gateways such as Bidaiondo or the new virtual wallet GuajiPay.
The company executives highlighted the future prospects of Marinas Marlin, including the development of its products and services throughout Cuba, as well as the opportunity for foreign investment in the Marina Hemingway and Almandares River naval workshops in Havana, the Ancon Peninsula Nautical Base in Sancti Spíritus, and the Siguanea Base on the Isle of Youth.
In addition to maritime excursions, mooring services, contemplative diving, international courses endorsed by ACUC and SSI didactics, fishing in different modalities (deep-sea, bottom and fly fishing), life on board services and boat repairs, Marinas y Náuticas Marlin S.A. is in charge of important events that have the sea as a backdrop.
In the last decade, it has organized the Jardines del Rey International Big Game Trolling Fishing Tournament, which this year will be held from October 24 to 29. It also brings together photographers and divers who participate in Cuba’s FOTOSUB International Underwater Photography Event.
