Low influx of visitors to the archaeological zone of Tulum
Although Tulum’s archaeological site ranks among the top five most visited in Mexico, it experienced a 23.6% decline in visitors during the first half of this year compared to the same period last year.
In 2023, Tulum received 765,510 visitors, but this year, that number dropped to 585,078. These figures are according to a report by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).
Interestingly, Chichén Itzá remains the most popular archaeological site, attracting over a million visitors in the first half of 2024, with 835,878 of them being international tourists.
