Celebrity Cruises’ newest ship Ascent to call on Cayman
Celebrity Cruises’ newest ship Ascent, which debuted last month, is set to sail to the Cayman Islands next week for one of two planned calls in January.
The large cruise ship, which boasts a double occupancy of 3,260 passengers, is expected to call on Grand Cayman on 12 Jan. and 26 Jan.
This month is expected to be a busy one for cruise arrivals, as on most days there will be ships calling on Grand Cayman,
Some days will be particularly stacked with multiple cruises in port.
The Celebrity Ascent is the fourth vessel in the Celebrity Cruises’ Edge Series and features 32 restaurants, bars and lounges.
According to a Celebrity Cruises’ statement, the Ascent will be based in South Florida for the 2023-2024 Caribbean season and will be cruising out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale from December 2023 to April 2024.
The ship will call on ports including the Bahamas, Grand Cayman, Puerto Rico, and the British Virgin Islands, before heading to Europe for a summer of Mediterranean cruises in Greece, Italy, Turkey, Spain and France, the statement said.
t made its official debut in Fort Lauderdale on 3 Dec., with a seven-night Eastern Caribbean sailing, with stops including St. Maarten, St. Thomas and the Dominican Republic.
Following its maiden voyage, Celebrity Cruises – which is owned by Royal Caribbean – said the vessel will head to the Mediterranean for sailings from Barcelona and Rome after completing its Caribbean itinerary in April.
