Aruba promotes its wellness offering in Santiago
The day of disconnection and relaxation, in the best style of the beaches of Aruba, was held on July 11 at the Noi Vitacura hotel with the purpose of illustrating to the media the benefits of Aruba as one of the
most competitive and complete Wellness destinations in the world.
Guests were able to immerse themselves in a meditation and yoga experience guided by teacher Antonella Orsini. Afterwards, they enjoyed a well-deserved spa with a relaxing massage, two iconic activities that tourists can enjoy during their stay at the destination.
With this exercise, the Aruba Tourism Office not only celebrated communication professionals on the occasion of Journalist’s Day, but also brought a little piece of the Happy Island to the south of the continent. And, in addition to its spectacular beaches and world-class resorts, wellness tourism is in the very DNA of the island.
Wellness is in the DNA of Aruba
Wellness is a holistic approach that promotes health and balance in all aspects of a person’s life. Thanks to its wide range of inspiring activities and unbeatable natural settings, Aruba is now recognised as one of the best-positioned destinations in the world for enjoying a wellness holiday.
How about, for example, a peaceful yoga session on the beach accompanied by the sound of birds and the soft lullaby of the ocean? Or perhaps under the full moon? Aruba is, in fact, one of the meccas in the Caribbean for this activity. Travelers will find everything from yoga retreats and certification programs to surprising anti-gravity yoga proposals, the challenging SUP Yoga (yoga on water) —you have to experience it to understand it! — or a comforting meditation at the Aruba Butterfly Park.
The resorts are not far behind. In addition to their magnificent facilities, which in principle invite physical and mental well-being, wellness activities are common, incorporating meditation, sound baths and tai chi, among other innovative proposals designed and guided by experts.
And don’t even mention the spas! With Aruba’s reputation as a wellness destination, the island’s main hotels have made sure to offer travellers a menu of therapeutic treatments, massages and body rituals, some of which feature Aloe Vera, a natural resource that has become the island’s symbol. A visit to the headquarters of the Aruba Aloe company is a must-see on the island.
What can we say about gastronomy? In the 19th century, the German philosopher and anthropologist Ludwig Feuerbach famously wrote: “We are what we eat.” In Aruba, this nutritional concern is more than resolved. Among the wide range of restaurants available throughout the destination, delicious healthy menu alternatives stand out, whether vegetarian, vegan or simply balanced.
Finally, another of Aruba’s strong points is the possibility of connecting with nature. Nearly 20% of the island’s surface corresponds to the Arikok National Park, a semi-arid ecosystem with unique flora and fauna where the mind seems to be restored with a magical healing aura. Hiking along its more than 30 km of trails or descending into its spectacular caves are some of the recommended activities to enter into communion with nature.
There’s no doubt about it: Aruba has wellness in its DNA! If you’re interested in experiencing a transformative journey on every level, the Happy Island awaits you with open arms. Your mind and body will thank you.
